The St. Charles streetcar line

Picture
For $1.25 you can board the St. Charles street car at Canal street and travel down one of the oldest streets in America passing under hundred year oak trees and beautiful mansions. Many of which have been filmed in iconic movies, like "Gone with the Wind!"
You even pass by pieces of our sister city of Paris' masterpiece, the Eiffel Tower. Just past Lee circle, an odd shaped building is guilded with unique metel pieces that were left over from the construction of the Eiffel Tower. Passing it never ever gets old!

The Roman candy man

Picture
As you travel down St. Charles on the street car, a lot of times you will pass the Roman Candy man. He is a staple of historic New Orleans. Starting out over a 100 years ago for just 5 cents a stick, this taffy like candy is delicious and has remained a favorite generation after generation. It has stood the test of time, even Katrina. However, the price has risen as the years have gone by. Each chewing candy stick now goes for 50 cents each.

Audubon Park

Picture
Just before the river bend you will find one of my favorite parks in New Orleans. This gorgeous park has beautiful over hanging live oak trees garnished with Spanish moss. If that wasn't enough, it is also home to a running track nestled inside it that circles around a golf course and an island that is home to many species of birds.

The Tree of Life

Picture
Just byond the Mississippi river on the outer skirts of Audubon Park is a marvel to see with your own eyes. This is one of the oldest trees in our entire country. She could be as old as 1,200 years old. I have found myself sitting on her masive roots pondering my life and where I was headed.
The mysterious history of New Orleans with her witches and dark magic, you can just imagine all the spells and curses that have been cast, made with combined powers of the water from the mighty Mississippi, mixed with the mud from the Tree of life cast in the light of a full moon.

Canal Streetcar

Picture
Once you make your way back downtown after your awesome Uptown adventure, and believe me, there is so much more to see and do other than what I've listed Uptown, you want to find your next streetcar line. Transfer to the Canal streetcar and ride towards the river. The Riverfront is an awesome sight to see. Gigantic barges and luxurious cruise ships make their way down the river all the time! Once you get to a streetcar stop in front of the river, hop off and take a walk down the moonwalk.

The Riverfront

Picture
A foggy winters night like this along the Mississippi river will always hold a very special place in heart. After 9 years of beautiful memories, on December 4th of 2015, Douglas asked me to marry him on the pier looking out onto the foggy Mississippi. Our lives have been a whirlwind ever since!
Not only is the fog on the river an incredibly awesome sight, but during a beautiful and clear afternoon you are really able to experience and see everything the moonwalk and the river has to offer.

Algiers Ferryboat

Picture
As you walk your way up the moonwalk, at the end of Canal street there is a ferry that takes you across the river to Algiers. For just $2 not only are you able to feel the strong wind blowing off the river as you make your way across but you get to take some really awesome pictures of the Riverfront, and downtown as you pass by!
Algiers is one of New Orleans' oldest neighborhoods. Back in the early 1800's the first family of Algiers, the Duverjes built their plantation home and it still stands today as the Old Algiers courthouse.
